Does anyone in North America use NEMA tags for high bay fixtures? « on: September 02, 2025, 09:46:38 PM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
Although I have mostly seen NEMA tags used on street lighting fixtures and a few other outdoor fixtures, I haven’t really seen them used on high bay fixtures much. I was wondering if any North American members on here like the idea of using NEMA tags for high bay fixtures they have in their collections.

I have never seen them used in anything other than street lighting, I am pretty sure street lighting is the only thing it is meant for but I could be wrong.

I do like that idea, I wish that was done. I personally think the NEMA tag system needs an overhaul, but using these labels for any HID fixture sounds like a good idea.

NEMA tags are probably pretty easy to make (though I haven't tried), just get some sort of special sticker paper to print them on I guess.

I don't know if I personally would put them on my fixtures because I don't own any fixtures to put them on lol, but if I had the means to make them I probably would just to make my life easier.

I've seen them used on some brands of HID hazardous location luminaires. Some manufacturers opted to make the wattage on the nameplate larger instead though. It might be possible some high bay and low bay manufacturers offered the option to have NEMA tags preinstalled.

I made some NEMA tags before, I had them printed on vinyl stock which should last longer in actual service compared to printing them on a paper sticker.

SCL (Seattle City Light) installed loads of GE Lowmount 400s in all the underpasses (e.g. the former Alaskan Way Viaduct) with NEMA tags in the center of the refractors.
