3BP7 CRT - Anyone have one for sale? « on: September 29, 2025, 10:06:09 PM » Author: Ed

We're working on restoring an older Heathkit Oscilloscope.
It uses a 3" CRT but we want one with the persistent P7 phosphor.

Please email me if you have a 3BP7 CRT for sale.

Thank you,

A fellow HAM! Nice to meet you, Ed.
Unfortunately I have no CRTs for oscilloscope, but I'm sure someone on here does.

Thanks,

Sometimes it just takes time and concerted effort to learn something new. Don't give up before you get there.

Honestly any P7 tube of any kind is hard to find. I couldn't find any on Ebay.

One P7 tube I see on Ebay is the 3FP7 , which is also a 3" P7 tube, but with slightly higher voltage characteristics. It might require some tweaks to make it work. But they so use the same socket and the same pinout, and have the same physical dimensions as well.

I don't know what voltage your Heathkit scope runs the CRT on, but if it is around 2kV then you should be relatively good, they seem to have similar characteristics at around that voltage.

Here is one NOS on Ebay for $90, free shipping:

Here is another used and untested one on Ebay for $40 plus shipping:

The getter here looks good, but filament is untested. Also doesn't show a picture of the screen so I don't know if it is burnt in or not.

Hope this helps, good luck with your project there!
