Does Anyone Remember this Lost GE Lamps Brochure from 2000? « on: August 13, 2026, 10:52:10 PM » Author: rapidstart_12
Hey all! I have a piece of lighting-related lost media that I’m looking for, and I am curious if anyone remembers it, has a backup, or knows of a source from which it can be obtained or viewed.

For many years, there used to be a PDF document of a GE Lighting brochure floating around on the internet, hosted by 1000bulbs.com. I went looking for it earlier today and discovered that it is no longer available! The brochure was dated 2000 and essentially featured many of GE’s high-efficiency and/or high-CRI lamps. Here are some of the lamps I remember being featured in the brochure:

- Starcoat and Starcoat XL T8 fluorescent lamps
- Multi-Vapor metal halide lamps
- Ceramic metal halide lamps
- Lucalox high-pressure sodium lamps
- Deluxe Lucalox HPS lamps
- Various CFLs, including the Genura, and if I remember correctly, the Biax lamps
- High-wattage halogen lamps, if I recall correctly

I do not remember any standard incandescent lamps being included.

There were a number of pictures and diagrams included in the brochure. Some of the pictures I remember from this brochure include:

- A picture of a high-end clothing store featuring fluorescent cove lighting
- An image of a water tower illuminated by Lucalox high-pressure sodium lamps
- A photograph of a factory illuminated by dim high-pressure sodium lamps
- Another picture of the same factory illuminated by bright Multi-Vapor metal halide lamps
- The cover image, which I believe was the front of a store with a big glass window.

I also remember a couple of diagrams from this brochure. One diagram featured numerous pictures of a woman taken under fluorescent lamps of different CRIs and color temperatures, demonstrating the different light qualities. I believe this exact diagram was also included in some of the GE catalogs. The other was a color spectrum showing the relationship between color temperature and CRI, with numerous points plotted to show how different GE lamps compare in this regard. I am unsure if this diagram was included in any catalogs.

The last few pages of this brochure were essentially a list of all the model numbers and specifications of the lamps featured in the brochure for ordering purposes. The brochure was probably around 15-20 pages long in all. I do not remember the name of the brochure, unfortunately.

The last time I viewed this PDF document was within the past two years, probably in 2025 sometime. It hasn’t been long since it was last available, and it used to be very easily found. Regardless, when I went looking for it again today, to my dismay, it was gone. I could not find evidence of its existence anywhere. It has just vanished.

I am quite disappointed by this as the brochure is really interesting and offered a great snapshot of the lamps GE offered in 2000. I distinctly remember viewing it on numerous occasions in the early days of my interest in lighting a few years ago. But now it is nowhere to be found.

Does anyone else remember seeing this brochure on the internet? Was anyone else aware of its disappearance? And most importantly, did anyone save a copy of the PDF before it was taken off of the internet? If you have one you’d be willing to share, or know of a source where it can still be found, I would be extremely grateful if you could chime in.

I am going to attach a copy of a very similar brochure that is actually still being hosted by 1000bulbs.com. I found this one while looking for the other one, and I have actually never seen this one until today.

It seems to be a companion brochure to the other one, as it was also released in 2000, and is very similar in format and aesthetics. However, this one focuses specifically on HID lamps. The pictures of the factory lights on page 10 are actually the same ones I was referring to earlier that were in the other brochure. I want to say the pictures on page 3 were also included in the other brochure, perhaps that entire page or something similar was in there.

I don't recall ever seeing a brochure like that.  Have you tried the Wayback Machine?

@icefoglights - I have tried looking for it on the Wayback Machine. I can’t find it.
