Another interesting loophole in the US incandescent ban: Soft Pinks « on: April 06, 2014, 10:35:29 PM » Author: Silverliner
I read in the latest Sylvania catalog that the soft pinks were exempt. I thought they were included in the incandescent ban, under the modifed spectrum standards. But it made sense that they were exempted because they fall into the colored bulb category and they are only used in very few applications. Today, at a hardware store in West Hollywood, I saw some brand new GE 100w soft pinks made in Hungary, made around September 2013 or so! Thats nearly two years after the ban on the 100w GLS lamps took effect. Even if the sales doubled because of the ban, the DOE cannot pose restrictions because this product is not on the "watch" list. I still don't expect the sales of soft pinks to take off though, the hardware store charges $10.99 for a 2 pack, and at Wal-Mart the chinese GE 60w soft pinks sell for $3.50 for a 2 pack. More expensive than halogens. Which I think is crazy nonetheless.

Interesting find. I'm guessing soft pink is close enough to soft white to be used for regular lighting? I've never seen one, myself.

And $10.99 for two bulbs!  :o

Approx. two years ago, when the 100 Watt incandescents were already banned in the EU for some time, I saw them being sold as: "Heat source - high efficiency over 95% - not suitable for lighting."  ;D

Inside the box, there was a good old clear 100W incandescent.

Yes, the box seems familiar to me. :) I didn't examine the bulb itself as you did.
Anyway, it was a good joke on the EU expenses.
