It's nice to see old lights still in use. I'm growin' up around mostly HPS. One or two MV lingering here and there, but more modern ones like 100w MV M-250A2 FCO. Unfoutunatly, they don't change the door on the mercury powr/doors, they install new M-250R2 HPS. It's stupid. >:(

Depending on the condition of the streetlights. If they are in bad shape, they should get replaced. But yes I do believe in restoration too. If the old fixtures can use Energy Efficient or Energy Star products in the old fixtures, that is the plus. Broken streetlight definitely do need to be replaced.

streetlight98, if you still see lights that stay on during day, Contact your electric company to put new photocells in them and yes have your electric company replace the broken fixtures.

If I was in charge of the electric company and if the communities still have incandescent fixtures, I likely would use the CFL 6500K bulbs or LED 6500K bulbs in those. And I also would replace all the High Pressure Sodium Fixtures with Metal Halide Fixtures or LED fixtures. And yes hope to find refurbished gumball streetlights.

Yeah gotta love energy efficient and energy star products.

6500K Color Temperature Kelvin lighting works for me. I use 6500K CFL in all my incandescent light fixtures. I use 6500K Flurescent bulbs in my flurescent fixtures. I hope prices get better and hope I find 6500K LED lighting in the future. I love energy efficient and Energy Star products. Way to go!
