Aladdin floor lamp for sale « on: May 07, 2014, 10:36:20 AM » Author: Larry
It is one of those special floor lamps you see pictures of, but not very many for real. :D

I am not sure if this one uses the incandescent bulb for a ballast or not.
I did not see a starter anywhere.
Description in listing said 1941.
It has two Westinghouse black enders. :D
Looks like F14T12CW, Because one bulb states 14 watt.
You have to blow it up to read it.

I would guess that if you had the wrong size incandescent bulb installed you could really over drive the F14s. :o
The picture seems a little too bright for two 14s, to me anyway if you look at the bottom of the shade and see the blue tinge and then compare this brightness with the light through the window.
Looks like a 60 watt 120 volt incandescent bulb from the picture.
I don't know if this is the correct size for this fixture or not.

Seller will not ship, local pick up only in Woodstock Georgia North of Atlanta. ???
I asked already.
It could be disassembled and shipped in two boxes if size is a problem, but the seller was not interested.
May be holding out for the shipping.
Oh well. ::)

I made a copy of all the pictures if someone needs the them for a restoration as other than what looks like a new cord, it looks original.

It is relisted but still local pick only. ???

I was thinking if a person could find a local shipper in Woodstock Georgia that could be paid to pick this up and then packed up and shipped out UPS or Fedex? ???

Some Mail box Etc. stores will do this for a extra charge.

I would love to have that thing!  I am not too terribly far away from there either.  I may see if the seller will take an offer.

You are much closer to it than I am.
May be you can get a deal on it.
It needs a good home. ;D

John,

Were you able to contact the seller?
May be if it is relisted the seller may be into shipping the lamp next time.
If you take these to a UPS store they will ship anything within reason.
I have taken a lot of things to UPS stores for being boxed up for shipping with no problem.

It is not that difficult to dissemble for shipping really as most lamps were sold dissembled and then had to be assembled either at the store or by the owner anyway. ::)

I contacted the seller.  He is unwilling to disassemble it, unwilling to ship it and unwilling to meet anywhere to pick it up.

Not much of a seller for sure.
I got the impression after contacting that the seller was not really all that interested in making a sale in the first place.
With a situation like that even if you showed up at the door, they may end up backing out of the deal anyway.
I was thinking to have a local shipping company pick it up then pack up and ship it out.
I have had this done before in the past for a extra charge for the pick up.

Oh well what can you do? ::)

That old lamp really does need a good home for sure. :P
