I was the bidder and it was me who asked the seller to test it on a variac and gave him some info about that lamp. He answered me saying he would get it tested and let me know the outcome. It was with great surprise I was informed he had withdrawn it from the auction by ebay and even more concerned as I had already put up a bid.....yes I was not a happy bunny and asked the seller what had gone wrong and I was told the same info that was put up on this forum, I feel that if ebay had explained why this lamp had been taken down I would have felt better, instead they told me not to buy it outside ebay and that was in red....I am sorry if this has caused any problems with the seller and yes I look forward to the lamp being offered again, and glad my pension money may come in handy...LOL.

Thanks Peter, that's interesting information. The whole thing to me seems to have been badly handled by both the seller and eBay, I just hope you manage to get the lamp eventually.

The seller provided us with photos of the lamp lit.  He indicated the color was closer to a crimson red in person, although it appears orange in the pictures.

Typical neon orange I would think, nevertheless a very unique lamp by Mazda Franklin a name which comes up once in search but not a neon.

Thanks again Ria.   I have been doing a bit of digging into the Franklin name, the company was bought by Edison do not know the year, there is a mention of a tantalum lamp with picture by this maker in Kilokats. I wonder is the name from Benjamin Franklin who dabbled in many things from flying kites in a storm, lightening conductors and bifocals to say nothing of his politics and the making of The States. He inspired the young Edison and gave him many ideas. Not to mention being a clock maker too.
