HID, LPS, and preheat fluorescents forever!!!!!!
|
Does anyone know if a SLI/H lamp with braided electrodes can be used on a rapid start ballast? Or does the ballast have to be a preheat/switchstart ballast?

I dont think these would properly heat the cathode on HO rapid start, but it worth the try. That one of my ideas using 8 ft HO 2 lamp rapid start to test them out.

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly. Gotta love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.

It depends on the lamp. Some are designed for pre-heat and some were designed for instant start. The 140W lamp for example was intended to be used on a 90W SOX leak transformer, with no pre-heat. I run mine with one of these and just one wire to each end. By contrast, I believe the 60W lamps were intended for switch-start circuits.
