It seems that the sales of SBMV lamps in Israel have been banned « on: November 19, 2010, 05:43:50 AM » Author: dor123
I was at 18.nov.2010 in Home Center shop which is the latest chain of shops that sold 160W Philips and Osram ML and HWL SBMV lamps. However they stopped to sell these lamps. Instead i found GE Kolorlux 125W MV lamps (These requires a ballast in order to operate).
So it seems that the SBMV lamp will soon become obsolete in Israel.

I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 220-240V, 50hz country.

Then it seems Israel apply "stronger" norms then EU.
In EU SBMV are exempt from the "phase-out" program, the official reason is "the unique light spectrum"...
Well, i guess the real reason is, then they are anyhow very expensive in retail (but not as expensive to make) and so inefficient, so they pose no commercial thread to new mass-market products...

I don't know. 150W and 100W incandescent lamps, still legal in Israel. But the seller warns the shoppers to don't put them on a regular (Plastic) sockets.

Plastic socket were never rated for more then 60W lamps, for 75W and more you need ceramic one...
