Nostalgic Vintage Lighting Packaging « on: December 25, 2017, 09:57:40 PM » Author: CEB1993
Hi everyone, I have always been nostalgic about light bulb packaging from the 1990's and early 2000's, when I was younger.  I especially like the classic 1990's blue and white General Electric packaging.  The Lightstyles for Lifestyles packaging was an iconic part of my childhood  ;D  I'm really happy that the same classic GE packaging can be found today at Dollar General stores, with modern Hungarian GE bulbs.  What are some of your favorite classic packaging styles?

Philips :inc: IQ lamps that have a very simple and elegant design for packaging that uses a single piece of thin paperboard for packaging. It's thin material, but the way it is cut and folded makes good use of it. Its quite rigid for its thickness while supporting and protecting the lamp well. Not to mention the lamps themselves are quite smart.

I do remember those yellow and blue GE packaging mostly seeing those bulbs in grocery stores, and I recall some off brand bulbs at the dollar store that showed two bulbs one horizontal and one vertical if I recall right, kind of in an L shape.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

I quite like the old GE packaging... i got mine out of an old abandoned structure though so they're pretty beat up... but they still work... also got a couple smaller ones holding GE 40W reds....

Oh cool, I just saw one of these Philips IQ lamps in a clearance basket at a local hardware store.  I might have to get it!  Philips IQ and Philips Director are rare these days  :)  Philips Halogena are some of my favorite older model Philips lamps, with 1990's to early 2000's packaging.

But how easy is it to get the lamp out without damaging the packaging..? That's the problem with the later designs  :(
