I am looking for a glass refractor for a GE M-400 luminaire. This is a 1950's model with the thin ridge on the glass section that fits into the metal lower hinged base. The lips on the newer globes are too thick for the M-400 to close properly.
The House Side of the glass has the squiggly lines running vertical.

Watch eBay, these occasionally come available and sometimes really cheap ! i bought on last summer for one of my M-400's for like $40.00 with free shipping! If I see any more I'll let you know. GOOD LUCK !!

Thanks. It must be the refractor with the thin lip that fits the clam shell.

I tried a M400A-2 glass and the lip was too thick and the door would not close. The M-400 clam shell I have was received with a cracked globe and I found a replacement on Ebay. Looked the same but it did not fit because of the lip.
The original glass had the wavery lines in the rear "house side" section of the glass.

What would you want for it?

Thanks....Steve

I s what your talking about, i just looked at some of my refractors and the one in my form-400 has a 3/16 rib running around the center of where the refractor meets the gasket, the later refractor doesn't have it, it's just a flat surface. Is your light a form-400 clamshell or a M-400 cobrahead ?

Sorry about the late reply. It is a clam shell. Seems the glass lip is too thick to fit into the slot holders on the metal band with the latch assembly.

I think I might have one that might work. It goes to a M400A1 from the 1960s and I don't have a use for it right now.
It is a clam shell and the part of the refractor that fits into the tabs on the latch ring are too thin for a later model glass.

check out the refractor that Memorex/Telex just listed in the "for sale or trade" section, that looks an awful lot like what is in my form 400

Thanks
