Long live fluorescent!
|
I have certainly had these kinds of thoughts aswell, I have a bit more fluorescent tubes than I will probably ever be able to use in my lifetime. Considering that I only have 5 fixtures in daily service, 2x36/2x40W 4 footers, maybe 3 hours every night after work, I will certainly not be able to wear out all of my tubes, not even a small amount of them in my lifetime, heh. I'm not being overdramatic when I say that I probably have close to 500 of them. Many are the same colour, but many are also T12, and rare unusual colours. Also some rare freezer tubes. I am still fairly young, so I do not feel in any rush to downsize right now, however, I know that one day in the future I will be forced to. Whenever that day comes, I want most of my bulbs and fixtures to go to the lighting collector community, I would be incredibly sad if they all got thrown into a dumpster. I of course want to keep my favorites, but I know I likely won't be able to keep all of them. I am constructing a nice storage system for them right now though, and so far, it has swallowed quite a lot of bulbs! If I can fit all of them, I will be quite satisfied. If I run across good deals on bulbs, I will purchase them even if I dont need them, LOL. I am too good at that! Just a few weeks ago I purchase a whole box filled to the brim with T8 and T12 U-shaped bulbs, and I also have a whole box with around 40 T8 tubes 1200mm linear ones on its wayright now, that I definetely didn't need, but I wanted them anyways. X3
After these all arrive, I will definetely stop buying bulbs for a little while, I have been spending way too much money on lamps recently, Heh. One thing is for sure though, I will definetely have enough for the future. x3 I will probably give bulbs away here on lighting gallery in the future. I will do something like "if you pay the shipping you can have them". x3

I'm not surprised...he hadn't been very active lately. Dave if you're reading this, I wish you'd have stayed.

That's a shame he left. Seems a lot have left, took a break, or cut down on how active they are on here recently.

I've sure lost interest in LG over the last few years but don't see a reason to quit. When I first joined, LG seemed like a small group of good friends. Not so much now.

Bummer... Henry you've nailed it. This place used to be a small group of friends basically. Now it's more like a large auditorium filled with people. It's not worse, just a different atmosphere. I stay because I've been here for so long, it's kinda cool. I'm not always active, in fact I didn't come at all between 2017 and 2021, and visit only sporadically ever since, but there's no plan to delete my account. It'll just go dormant if anything. But it's sad to see members of several years go... Let's hope Dave will be OK...

What happened to some of the members that created this "friends" atmosphere, @Foxtronix ? I know j-frog sadly passed. Where did Gearjammer, TudorWhiz, slaidblade, etc. go?

Sometimes it just takes time and concerted effort to learn something new. Don't give up before you get there.

Everyone: Just saying that I’m back! Thanks y’all for the support!
No, I’m not leaving the hobby, but downsizing will make it easier to handle and enjoy it more. Mainly duplicates I’d like to share.
