why do metal halide lamps go to a pink color?

When a MH lamps becomes pink, it enters at his EOL (end of life); the lamp will burn out soon, or explode  :o I'm not sure HOW does it become pink. I think sodium halide or simply sodium in arc tube go covering the electrodes and get the start voltage higher. Correct me if I'm wrong...

 actually green is being underpowered! usually that means a bad cap or missing one!

Possibly the lamp was a MH filled with Thallium so the EOL colour will be Green!
