I'm not sure... i would not think so.. but then again i dont know.. i do know that the relay was baking for a minute or so if it was the thing producing the smoke, because it took about a minute for the smoke to role over in my direction, it was some of that heavy smoke.. the stuff that likes to "roll"

well i mean how though... the way i have it wired is the coil is in series with the HID lamp and the contacts are in series with the incandescent lamp... so when the HID lamp gets going the relay becomes energized and it pulls apart the contacts for the incandescent lamp shutting it off, i also have an override switch that i can use to bypass the relay coil and turn on both the incandescent lamp and the HID I will clean them though... the thing probably does need it, i found it outside to begin with lol

Interesting... I will think about it... at the moment i've been kindof busy... also... why did the lamp start drawing so much current at that particular time? I've started this thing up many many times and this was the first time it had issues, and i've started it about 5 times after the issue and its working like normal. was the lamp just having a hiccup or something? also this relay originally came out of another HID lamp in the same configuration, only it was switching a fan or something.

Finally got the right power cord positioned how i wanted on my 1000W flood... i had to fight the box closed because it is quite crammed, i ended up breaking one of the original halves of the case so i replaced it with another, now it does not match... ugh... i guess i can repaint it though.. the power cord does not get warm at all now though, and its sturdier
