IDK what the old lights were, but they replaced them with Leoteks that self destructed. Apparently the surge suppressor and photocell just turned into melted globs if I remember correctly.

That's weird. Clearly they weren't meant for series lines!

AFAIK, I don't think they make LED luminaires with drivers that can operate off a 6.6A system. Your option is to either stick with HID, rewire to multiple, or install one of those 6.6A to 120v isolation transformers designed for LED conversions to the pole and run conventional LED luminaries.

Sounds as if it's a lot easier, and cheaper to relamp the fixtures with HID.
