GE probably launched a competitor to the CosmoWhite of Philips « on: November 26, 2010, 02:59:54 AM » Author: dor123
The new CMH lamps range of GE, called CMH StreetWise and have similar efficiency and CRI to the CosmoWhite (Up to 111 lm/w and >70%).
However unlike the CosmoWhite (CosmoPolis in the US) which have a 2-pin base and can only be operated on a dedicated electronic ballast, the CMH StreetWise can be operated directly on both magnetic and electronic ballasts of HPS lamps (Since they're available in the usual 50W, 70W, 100W and 150W of HPS lamps), have just a regular screwbase and can even be dimmed on magnetic ballasts.
Also, while the Philips CosmoWhite (CosmoPolis is an american trademark that isn't belongs to Philips lighting Europe) have universal burning position, the GE CMH StreetWise is limited to horizontal burning position only.
See this PDF for more information.

Hmmm this is a much better option than the cosmo white It mean existing lanterns do not have to be changed to retro fit these lamps!!
