I'm thinking of purchasing some 175w MV lamps so I can have some extras for my collection. I plan to run them with an Atco OMB175 ballast designed for 175w MV lamps. This ballast runs off Australia's 240v 50hz mains power supply. I'd like to know if a 175w MV lamp intended for use with a North American 120v 60hz H39 ballast will work safely on an Australian 240v 50hz Atco OMB175 ballast. Remember not everyone knows and understands the meanings of technical terms so a simple yes or no would be great.

These medium or lower power MV lamps are the same spec worldwide, so it should work properly...

I also have another confusion, which is why one Philips BPL13 ballast cannot start one GE Biax™ F13BX, while two Philips BPL13 ballasts in parallel can start two GE 13W Biax™ F13BXs?

Certain lamp wattages (mainly with those nonballasted quad- or six-tube CFL's) are available with two electrical specs, not compatible to each other. They then usually differ in the base (different position of the keying notches and pins,...). I think the 13W is indeed one of them. No idea for the reason why.
