BBQ'd crap like that is the key reason why most of these fixtures get replaced with new ones ! I dealt with the same thing when we changed out all of the MH highbays at work . 95% of the lights I removed had wirng that was completely cooked from the heat !
The other thing I see is a really poor fixture design in that the wires can be easily pinched when opening or closing the fixture .
This guys seems to be more of a parts swapper than an electrician .
