Photocell Sockets « on: June 06, 2025, 11:25:09 AM » Author: Multisubject
Do photocell sockets have a specific name? They look just like some random NEMA locking plug, but are they? If so, which one? Does anyone know the pinout?

I don't remember the number but there is a female NEMA plug that a P/C will plug and lock right into . I have one somewhere .

Over here in Australia we had D2 photocells, which look like a fluorescent starter with an extra pin on the bottom.

I just looked that up, that is definitely unique!

After reviewing a chert of NEMA locking plugs, I don't see any that would match exactly, but I do see some that have some extra space that the prongs of the photocell won't fill, which means it should still fit and make contact well.

Has anyone else tried this?

@Multisubject the Sylvania Urban and Sylvania Suburban both use D2 cells, if you want to see it on a fixture.
