What is the L-Prize? « on: July 11, 2012, 08:52:25 AM » Author: dor123
I already understood that the L-Prize, is a bribery that Philips recieved from the US Department of Energy (DoE), especially from their remote phosphors LED lamp (Which I simply called it L-Prize lamp), and Philips paid for the DoE in order to recieve the "award".
I don't know if the DoE plans to present the L-Prize again in the future or that this was a one-time event, that willn't be occured anymore.

There is another portion of the L prize for PAR38 LED retrofit lamps that is still ongoing.  The efficacy target for that part is around 120lm/W to 160lm/W (I do not remember the exact figure).
