Hi i need an electronic ballast for a 18W Sox. In ebay or other shops i can't find some. It is possible to take a 18w electronic fluorescent ballast? I found this ballast at ebay. https://www.ebay.de/itm/1-EVG-1x18W-PHILIPS-HF-S-118-TLD-II-NEU/303140712719?hash=item469498310f:g:N7QAAOSwez5ZwnnfGreetings from Germany

Not sure if an electronic ballast will work, I've always preferred magnetic ones. An 18W T5 magnetic ballast will work, but you'll probably need a starter or ignitor across the lamp. The Philips SX26 ignitor is the preferred one, but any ignitor for a 35W SOX will work. DO NOT use a 3-wire ignitor, only a 2-wire one designed for SOX use.

This is a question for our US members, I think they have a way of doing it by bridging two of the contacts out on the ballast?, as they have successfully run 18 watt Sox on US ballasts with multiple wires?

I don't see any problem to run SOX 18W on a 18/20W T8/T12 magnetic ballast + S2 glow starter or a cheap 18W T8 electronic ballast.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site. Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.
I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

2ft 18w T8 fluorescent tube ballast is the best match. And a glow starter. DO NOT use a electronic pulse starter.

A 2lamp F32T8 electronic ballast with both blue wires wired together to one socket lead and the red wire to the other lead. Worked great for me.
I realize over seas you most likely don't have these but most of these are multi volt 120 to 277v 50 or 60 hertz so should should on anyones mains

feel free to ask questions

That should be working. The ballast has a quite high voltage without load (c. 300V) , so that might be enough to light the lamp.
Das sollte funktionieren. Das EVG Regelt den Strom von alleine. Es hat eine höhe lehrlaufspannung meist über 300V, das müsste zum Zünden der Lampe reichen

The HF electronic ballasts here are a similar set up as the US ones I think, with the only difference being the US ones have fixed wiring , whereas ours are push in terminal .
