What is the difference between CWA and SCWA? « on: December 12, 2020, 04:35:57 PM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
Does anyone have know what makes a SCWA or Super CWA ballast different than a regular CWA ballast? From my understanding, SCWA ballasts are almost exclusively used in North America for high wattage pulse start metal halide lighting.

The SCWA ballasts are more efficient than standard CWA ones. The SCWA ballasts meet new energy codes that older CWA ballasts do not.

I am wondering if SCWA ballasts have different electrical characteristics compared to standard CWA ballasts.

It will, but for the lamps it is rated for it will be still within the tolerance window for those lamps...
