Hi, I wanna ask a question. What happens if I run a 380v lamp in 230v. This specific lamp is a MHN-SA 2 kw. It cycles in 230v is it normal for it to cycle in 230v? I wont try that again anyway but I wanna know if it is normal for it to cycle. Thanks

Are you referring to the ballast as being rated 380v? I think in most cases, if you operate an HID lamp with too low of line voltage, it will either fail to warm up fully and/or it will cycle.

The running voltage of a 400V lamp is something like 200-260V, so it practically cannot run up to full power from 230V.
If you run a lamp with 400V ballast on 230V, it might even fail to warm up as the starting current is too low...
