135w T10 VHO Lamps as Overhead Lighting « on: March 25, 2021, 03:07:52 AM » Author: suzukir122
I'll try my best to clarify real quick.. I've never seen 135w VHO lamps being used outside of freezers. Has anyone ever seen or used
135w VHO lamps in regular strip fixtures or turrets? With their intended VHO ballasts?

Those 135w T10's are some of my favorite lamps of all time like, for real. So I want to know if anyone has seen or used them in turrets
or maybe even larger strip fixtures of some kind.

I believe they're F60 lamps so they would be around 5ft long. 5ft is rather uncommon for turret luminaires. I think they were usually made in 4ft and 8ft, with maybe 6ft as an option.

Are you OK? That is some funky spelling...  :mrg:
Getting back on track, I have seen some F120T12 being sold on Interlight’s website.

I saw some F120T12/HO lamps at the Restore once. Oddly they were made from a 7ft section spliced into a 3ft section. I think they were pretty much only exclusive used in signs but it would be cool to see a 10ft turret for them.

@Joseph_125, dang. All these years I've thought those 135w T10's were 6 footers. I didn't know they were 5 footers. That explains why I
don't typically see them in use outside of freezers and store refrigerators.  :-\ Five footer fixtures are tough to find as it is.
Which means... if anyone wants them to be used in overhead fixtures, they'd have to modify fixtures in order to do so. Sigh... dang it.

I also saw some of those at a ReStore years ago, and same thing on the design.
Had no way to get such a long beast home, or I mighta got a couple.

Man... well looks as if I'm gonna have to, someday, create a fixture with these, with a VHO ballast that supports them. By "fixture," I mean
like a light table or something
