Full spectrum F40T12 high CRI over 95 - lamps? « on: May 08, 2021, 07:10:20 PM » Author: AZTECH
Is there any companies still making F40T12 lamps that has full spectrum and well over 95 CRI?  Last time I know it was Verilux they did claimed 96 CRI but seem they no longer made these T12 lamps

The second best maybe GE Chorma 50 & 75 but 92 CRI?  No longer made over 95 CRI?

I was doing remodel one of my mobile home and it has massive 8 - T12 lamps of 5 fixtures being installing. 4 switches that control pair 2 lamps. Nice of wide choice of color fluorescents for mood.

The only lamps that are "full spectrum" are incandescents and halogens. The term "full spectrum" is also used in grow lamps.

I did a rough look at the Big Three and it seems like sadly the highest CRI for F40T12 tops out at 90 for currently listed lamps.

If you're willing to convert to F32T8, Philips still lists the F32T8/TL950 which is rated at 98 CRI. I'm not sure if it's worth it though but you can get old stock magnetic rapid start ballasts so they behave more like T12s on a rapid start ballast.

I would suggest to go NOS but it's gonna be hard to find something like that.

Almost all T12 ballast are in excellent condition and I don't think they will burn out anytime soon but if it does I could upgrade to F32T8 gear but doing upgrade it all it probably costly and waste lot of T12 ballast. :wndr:

Even incandescents and halogens aren't "Full spectrum". This term is a fictional term that don't even exists in physics and chemistry fields.

I only orginal asking what's best quality highest CRI F40T12 lamps available for replacement and not asking into the science political stuff.

I do understand that wavelength comparing cannot exactly same the lamp between fire ball sun.

Is the daylight deluxe tube (F40/DX) even still made today? I think its CRI is around 92 but that's probably as high as it'll ever get for 40W T12s. Maybe those newer phosphors that were developed as replacement for the halophosphate cool white and warm white do about as good CRI wise.
