Germicidal lamps that operate on magnetic rapid start ballasts « on: March 20, 2022, 12:53:04 AM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
From what I am aware of, I seem to understand that most germicidal low pressure mercury vapor lamps often use high frequency electronic fluorescent tube ballasts and preheat fluorescent magnetic ballasts. Are there any germicidal low pressure mercury vapor lamps that can actually work well on magnetic rapid start fluorescent ballasts besides the 24w and 36w TUV PL-L lamps that can operate on dedicated magnetic PL-L rapid start CFL ballasts?

I think it's possible. Because ordinary FL lamps are produced by adding phosphors on the basis of ultraviolet germicidal lamps.

I've been collecting light bulbs since I was 2 years old and I've been collecting them ever since.

The phosphor is sometimes cited as a factor helping to maintainthe inner atmosphere easier to ignite (as a sideeffect from its presence), so when it is missing, the germicidal ballasts may need higher OCV mainly to ignite and operate in a reliable way, above what the preheaters are able to do.

Gremicidal lamps here works on the same preheat ballast and starter as regular fluorescent lamps.
