Home Depot with Mercury Vapor parking lot lighting? « on: June 26, 2022, 10:34:18 AM » Author: davidnonledfan
Has anyone seen a Home Depot before with parking lot lamps that are still there in 2022? I am always curious to know of these big box stores still being lit-up with older lighting. :mv: :mv: :mv: :mv: :mv: :bulbman:

20 years old and I love old phones and lighting. I love filament/ incandescent shaped LEDs and regular LED tube LEDs on a magnetic ballast. I don't do well with the all in one integrated world. Catch me eventually using T17 lighting at my own place

I've always seen them with HPS.  Kinda goes with their orange theme.  :D

Home Depot first started in 1978 so it was around the time when I believe HPS was coming around. and i agree, the orange theme suits HD and it could maybe be intentional they are keeping these lamps to match the theme.

I don't think I've ever seen a Home Depot with MV parking lot lights.

There's one here that has these nifty looking 1980s HPS drop lens shoeboxes though:
https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.7629331,-79.2972931,3a,47y,53.37h,104.82t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1seWIIH1fSArPBK3swKZpPUQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

There's also another interesting one built into a mall:
https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.6704631,-79.3383286,3a,65.3y,162.23h,95.59t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQj4Izg-kGXXig3LLx9p2-A!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
It's the only Home Depot I know with a drop ceiling and troffers instead of the usual lighting and high ceiling.

This one used 1000w MH GE HMAA highmasts, unfortunately has been LEDized now:

Most here use these round white HPS shoeboxes:

My local Home Depot seems to use 1000w S52 high pressure sodium Galleria lanterns in the parking lot.

ON LG FOR 2 YEARS! Please don't ask to meet up with me, as I am still living with my mother. Don't send me items either please, thank you!
LED street lights are bad. Some look good though. HID is better.
Please, watch out for the future. It's not looking good. Loves instruction manuals of any kind!

most certainly, the one near me has one particular fixture that they haven't relamped in north of 6 months. every time i'm walking into the store i hear it buzzing angrily and hope they'll actually get around to it.

applying obsolete lighting technologies for the enjoyment of the masses; why not use a magnetic ballast for a new installation? and when they tell you you can't run a t12 off that "t8" ballast.... just look back to the old preheat systems where wattage was the only spec listed.

The first Home Depot that opened here in the Fort Lauderdale area at the end of the 70s, the parking lot was lit with 1000w coated MV lamps installed in GE M-1000 cobraheads.
The inside of the store was lit up with double tube striplights that used 8' GE Powergroove tubes.
What a combination!
