Osram Nitra 1000 w « on: July 20, 2022, 12:53:24 AM » Author: tmacinen
Hi buddies. Found an old Osram Nitra bulb and I would love to know the age of it. Might be made in 1920s but surely someone here knows better. So I had in mind to humbly ask for confirmation.

The bulb seems unused and was stocked in a House built between 1906-1920.

I think it is probably from the 1920s.  The manufacturing date is normally printed on such lamps, in black ink etched into the rim of the copper base.  It should have three digits which can be deciphered ath the following link: http://www.lamptech.co.uk/Documents/Codes/Date%20Code%20-%20Osram%20-%20German%20pre-1953.pdf

Thank you so much! Interesting indeed.

e27 -> Berlin Rotherstraße, february 1927 (likely, the factory was operational from 1907 to 1945.

Thanks Alex!

February 1917 would be just before the first Russian revolution. Back then Finland was still a part of the russian empire. We got independent 4th december 1917. So the lamp propably arrived here before that.

Just wondering why it was never used and what the planned usage was. No idea.

Hello,
This lamps was used mainly in theatre lighting in conjunction with a reflector. The disgn was later phased out in favor of linear halogen lamps.
