| Yeah if i get it I’ll probably run 100 watt in it since the ballast for those is much easier to find in North America compared to those other wattages.

Other than the Royce Thompson P/C mounted on the side , it appears to be gearless . The center label does mention 70w so maybe it's designed for a 70w SON lamp with a remote ballast  It also just has a "-" where a voltage and hertx rating should be . |

This is indeed GECs Z8896/7 lantern for 80/125 watt mercury or 70 watt HPS, we had these at our school running 125 watt mercs in the 80s  It later went on to be listed as Siemens, then WRTL |

| I find it interesting that the UK kept using remote ballasted clamshell style luminaries for so long. Here in North America similar lanterns were discontinued in the early 60s.

| I've always found that interesting. Over here the the manufacturers were promoting the time and labour savings of a internally ballasted luminaire/cobrahead in trade ads from the late 50s, and by the mid 60s, most remote ballasted roadway luminaires were discontinued with customers looking for remote ballasted option being directed to order a "empty" cobrahead.
Our remote ballast installs were typically different too, often opting for can shaped ballasts mount to the exterior of the pole near the arm or in a add on transformer base.

| Update: for some reason this listing went absolutely crazy and i lost to a huge bidding war at 5 seconds left. In the meantime i did manage to snag an Eleco GR100 90 watt SOX luminaire that was also going for quite cheap.
