Unusual turn knob sockets « on: January 12, 2023, 12:57:38 AM » Author: Cole D.
I saw Antique Lamp Supply sells medium base 3 way sockets where the base is porcelain rather than plastic. I never knew medium base 3 ways existed in porcelain, just moguls… this would be good for those 100-150-250 W 3 ways bulbs.

Also I’ve heard now of 2 circuit turn knob sockets, which can control the socket itself, plus be wired to control another socket. These are often used in Gone With The Wind type lamps so you can have the top lamp on, bottom night light on or both.

Quite interesting to me.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Yeah, I don't think I've heard of either type before. Interesting that they exist. Yeah I'd definitely use the porcelain socket with those 100-150-250w 3 way bulbs.

I have some of the 2 circuit sockets on some lamps I got from my grandmother's house . They're medium base , single contact . 1st position turns on the nightlight , 2nd position turns on the main light , 3rd position turns on both and the last position is all off .  https://www.ebay.com/itm/314088474292
