Is this a typo, or are we all suckers for using squirly bulbs?

It is strange number, it more look like the dirty "equivalent to" trick: In the center of very narrow 9deg beam it create same intensity as "regular 800lm" 35deg beam lamp. It would even match by numbers: The 35deg is about 15x the area of 9deg beam, so it would actually give about 50..55lm into the 9deg beam, what look quite realistic (9deg beam mirror has not as much efficiency, lot of light escape without being redirected into the beam, so total figure of ~5lm/W netto into main beam is realistic for ~20lm/W brutto lamp efficacy)
