I've seen some pennies turn a nice green with blue spots on it aswell...

I once painted a 1xF40 fixture black, then put a F40T12/BLB in it

Thinking about it, I also painted a 2xF96T12 slimline fixture silver. Needed paint anyway,  plus the silver looks better than white since the beast is inside the house.
