50 watt HPS on 35 watt gear « on: June 18, 2023, 02:19:24 AM » Author: HomeBrewLamps
So I currently have three 50 watt HPS lamps and have no intention on getting proper gear for them. They have arrived to me through various trips to restores where I pretty much pick up every HPS lamp I can find no matter the wattage (because they are a pain in the butt to get a hold of compared to mercury. And especially metal halide which is common as dirt). I'm wondering if I can just feed them to 35 watt gear without much issue. They are nothing special. Just modern burner lamps is all. I think one is a FEIT and the others are GE or Sylvania.

I intend on keeping 35 watt lamps/gear around for a LONG time so if 50 watt can also function on the gear "interchangeably" that will definitely change the game up a bit.
