I recently saved a 70W MP70 metal halide bulb and I don’t have any metal halide gear that would run it. I’m wondering if I would be able to use this bulb in a 70W metal halide setup I have. I’ve heard these 70 watt bulbs are similar and I often see pot lights around town that have both types of bulbs co-existing. Just wondering if that would work without hurting anything.

It would work over here, since HPS and MH are electrically similar for the most part. I'm not sure about your side of the pond, though

120V 60HZ

UK / 220V land "low wattage" HPS/SON has 100V arc drop and USA/120V land bulbs have 55Volt arc drop
I am not sure the specs on a MP70 bulb but do KNOW 120V and 220V country HPS lamps are NOT the interchangeable up to around 150 watt size

That's why we have a US spec inverter to run the lower wattage of lampses below 175W, and the US ballasts to run then on.
