If you look at the label in 1st pic, it says "Assembled in Canada", not made. Philips would probably import everything, but assembling these electronic parts here in Canada passes any regulatory rule (perhaps to justify proper electrical manufacture).

the older Phillips were made in Canada as far as I know IE the goldfinger
and the NEWEST Lumec ones are from MX
and was wondering who/where did the assembly happen and if the plant is still around?

As you may know, There were a number of Philips plants in Quebec. A Granby plant, in southwestern Quebec, used to make SOX luminaires, and in Drummondville as well, which was a major incandescent plant. The Trois-Rivières plant was a Westinghouse one after which it became a Philips plant in 1983, but that was closed just a few years later.

Right now in QC, the main "assembly" plant might be in Boisbriand just north of Montreal & Laval. The area used to have major car manufacture plants in Canada. Manufacture/assembly is now done by Signify, the spin-off of Philips lighting. Gotta search for Signify then. I'm not even sure if they actually make the "Quebec LED" here. Lumec plant in 2010 in Boisbriand attached.
