Best background colour for Lamp photos? « on: February 02, 2024, 02:00:20 PM » Author: SouthWalesSOX
Looking to upload more images of Lamps, but struggling to find the best colour background for the pics.

White doesn't really show the detail of the lamps, anyone have any suggestions?

Particularly for Flourecent, SOX, SON etc...

I tend to use a cream/white background for unlit lamps, lit ones I usually go for black. Look at most of my recent uploads to get the idea.

Maybe the white/blue gradient that James uses.

HID Fixtures should stay HID, but I think LED is fine too.

That's added post-production as it were, and James has said it's a pain to do..!

Former member Gav had the best idea, he photographed lamps on a lit LED panel, this provided a soft light and excellent background for lamp shots  8)

I have a small LED panel that I use for lamp shots such as this one but it does require a bit of setup.

For quicker shots, I have a white cloth that I used as a background.

I Don't usually do this but removing the lcd layer from a TV or monitor and using the backlight with the inbuilt diffusion layers will provide a flat, clean and bright background
