TRT releases the Aspect gen2… « on: February 09, 2025, 07:31:42 PM » Author: phosco179

Needless to say, they’ve completely ruined the design of the original Aspect. I don’t know what the designers were thinking. This has ruined what otherwise was a company that made decent LED lanterns.

A lighting photographer from East London. I occasionally collect lamps as well.

I quite like the side profile. The underside looks Philips though. still exciting to see something new. The way it hinges reminds me of the v-max g2.
Should this post be in the modern lanterns section?

To be fair, the TRT Aspect Gen2 lantern looks totally like a rip off of a Advanced LEDs Clara. Probably Warwickshire will be the first 'Shire' to use the Aspect Gen2, the "shire" in where I live.

If by any chance I will meet one, I will add a photo of one. The design is just the design, I'm more thinking about the function, will it work like the Advanced LEDs Marlin for 16-17 years, or like those Holophane V-MAX Gen2 which work no longer than a month!

I do a bit care about the design, it's not that bad but it looks like TRT copied the Advanced LEDs Clara design...I may be wrong.

Usually I collect bulbs (Mostly LED) and some HID ones. I also own a couple of streetlights, but most are made in Poland.

However, I mostly prefer SOX bulbs. LED bulbs in their efficacy will never beat SOX bulbs, in my opinion.

I don't think they coped the Clara, it's a relitivley little known lantern, which itself has copied a design element from the BetaLED LEDway, it has silver metal above the diodes. A a lantern with a square profile isn't new, nor is trapdoor mounting.

Let's hope the Aspect Gen2 will work at least a decade before it's death  :DeAtH: :DeAtH: :DeAtH: however, I can bare the design, it's the lifespan/function that worries me a bit :(
