| They actually do make retrofits for SOX and Fluorescent. In my opinion , the biggest reason why fixtures don't get retrofitted is future repair costs . After retrofit , you still have used parts with untold hours on them waiting to fail . (i.e. wiring , sockets , hardware tarnished or damaged reflectors , rusty columns , etc) . Plus , a new install seems to use less watts and produce more light . Also , here where I live , the utility give financial incentives to replace with entire new systems rater than retrofit .
