Why did Lunera give their lines of drop in LED retrofit lamps female names? « on: April 13, 2025, 01:54:59 AM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
After knowing that Lunera had manufactured a wide range of drop in LED retrofit lamps designed to directly replace fluorescent and HID lamps without the need to bypass the existing ballast for the North American market, I have noticed that their line of direct retrofit lamps for fluorescent ballasts are known as the “Helen” lamps, their line of direct retrofit lamps for metal halide ballasts are known as the “Susan” lamps, and their line of direct retrofit lamps for high pressure sodium ballasts are known as the “Lucy” lamps. Why did Lunera choose to give their product lines of direct retrofit LED lamps female names?

Desire to collect various light bulbs (especially HID), control gear, and fixtures from around the world.

Bedause their marketing thought it is good idea.
C'mon, women are normally associated with nice, flashy things, so why not to use womens name for something like lamp product lines?

Plus they are by far not the first doing that. See mainly the many lantern names...

Id rather install a Helen, or Susan the a john or Karl-Heinz ( no offence to anyone baring these names). However i have to admit i very dislike giving lifeless things, even pets like dogs or cats human names as they are just not that. You can try as hard you want they'll never be humen, but cold scrap or wild beast that got a bit domesticated...
