Only that cultural expectations forced people to be more social but they’d rather have peace and quiet from other people?

Thriving in complete and utter solitude is very uncommon. Between the social butterflies and the hermits, the vast majority of people need at least some semblance of social interactions to preserve their sanity.

I think I understand where you're going with this question: extraversion is so irrationally overrated in the West. Like, it's over the top. Western countries revolve around this, even for such important aspects of life as work. In many fields, networking is the only way to land a job. You're introverted? Just get over it and drain all your energy doing something that other people do effortlessly!

I'll stop here before it turns into a rant but basically introverts are undervalued and downright disadvantaged in many Western countries.

Speaking me personally , I am .  I get more accomplished when working by MYSELF than I do when I have "help" . I get sick and tired of dealing with additudes , personalities and opinions , More often that not I have days of which I wish everyone would just GO AWAY and LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!

The entire concept of a shared culture is human nature. Humans as a whole never did wel solitary. We were cooperative hunters and gatherers for the first couple millennia of our existence. Then with the invention of farming, we did that together. We then built cities together etc etc.

What is not natural, is being "locked" into a building with dozens or hundreds of other people who you have no relationship with except for the work relationship, for the majority (or close to it) of your waking hours.

Furthermore, as Foxtronix said, it also differs a lot per person. I crave physical contact (and thankfully i have guys i can call if i just wanna spend a night cuddled up on the sofa watching geeky things on youtube) but i dislike crowds of random people or 'not my people'. Don't like being at work parties even if the people are nice. Don't like going to bars, unless it's my exact type of people hanging out there. Can't stand sports events. In short: i am not quite solitary but due to the fact that i dislike many groups of people, i do spend a lot of time alone.
