Pretty self explanatory. The Gallery has turned into straight crap, and the members who post that crap have zero self realization and are very annoying. No names mentioned but they are British for the most part. It's really gotten to a point. I don't even want to log in. I don't want to see your stupid Elgo lantern in 480p with zero interesting details or post quality!!!! And @Olav , the off topic section has nothing to do with it. It is those who pollute the gallery itself which drives members off of this site. And to those who attempt to maintain a quality standard, thank you....I'm just so Goddamn sick of seeing the same model of British modern lantern being posted!!! It's like some kind of inescapable cancer. If you have something cool, post it! But if it's just the run of the mill ugly cobrahead with nothing else to add, bin it, please, for the love of God.

Please don't. We've already lost Eric, and we don't want to lose you, either. You're one of the few members who regularly comment on my pictures.
Trust me, I have tons of luminaire photos that have yet to be posted, including some very obscure ones that I don't believe anyone here knows about. I'm currently in my last few weeks of school, so tests, projects, and other stuff of the like is bogging me down at the moment.
When my summer break starts, I'll finally get around to it. But please, don't leave. The site is already in enough peril as it is, and neither you nor I want to make it any worse.

I know that member your getting frustrated at @Maxim, just because they have an upload limit of 5 photos, doesn't mean that they need to use it up EVERY SINGLE DAY for the same ****ing TRT Aspect or MI26! I believe that they have already annoyed a few members to the point of leaving (not Eric though). They even said that they'd "take a break for a while" last week, and haven't! Though this isn't the first time that they've said that. Please don't leave @Maxim, we all like you, and value your comments, uploads and opinions. It would really suck to loose another awesome member to an annoying child.

That is kind of the reason why I stopped posting. I felt like posting the same models repeatedly would be very irritating for other members on this LG. If you look closely at my gallery, you can see I post stuff after a very LONG time. That's because there's barely any interesting light to take photos of these days. I have pictures that I have taken from Jan, but most of the photos are of the same model of cobrahead. That's why I didn't bother posting. These might be my last few months on LG before I delete this account.

@CooperOVZ - i absolutely love your posts, and I love seeing your pictures of Canadian streetlights. Please, don't delete your account. And @dudam001 , @Baked bagel 11 , @LightsoftheWest , or anyone else who commented here- thank you. I might try to converse with the admins. I think it's becoming a pretty mutual feeling amongst many of us.

I agree, there's been a noticeable slip in quality standards on here since the new year, and especially so during the past 1-2 months. I think one main thing being that while the rules about similar images and quality are still there, they seem to be not really enforced or loosely enforced at best.
I also suspect some of the more lower quality pictures are Google Streetview captures, which currently aren't allowed with the exception of some edge cases.
I've stepped back on uploading a lot of pictures but mostly for other reasons:
1. Most of what's interesting in my area has already been documented in my gallery
2. I've cut down on acquiring new items so my lighting collection doesn't get out of hand so not too many new pictures here.
I try to comment every few days but there's not too much of interest on here to me recently.

I fully agree ! I completely understand that alot of members are trying to document older streetlights before they all become extinct BUT , they all don't need to be posted here !! As I mentioned in another post , there's hundreds of HPS streetlights and floods within a 5 mile radius of me but I'm not gonna bother to waste space on the gallery with lights of which there is already HUNDREDS of other photos in existence !! @Maxim @CooperOVZ : Please stay , I think you'll regret leaving in the end . For those who's photos may or may not be in question , READ THIS : https://www.lighting-gallery.net/index.php?topic=11316.0 Particularly #'s 13 to 17 ! . My photos are taken with a $50 El Cheapo , USED digital camera from eBay and are FAR from professional quality but I typically try to take multiple photos of the same thing and then use the best one . If ALL of my attempts come out like total crapola I'll make more aattempts if possible until I get something I like . I have had several photos of which I've uploaded to LG only to find that what looked decent on my computer looked like udder CRAP on LG to which I then took MORE photos where possible and replaced the garbage photo with a better one .

I can relate! I wish it would stop, but please don’t leave. We’ve been having too many people leave or consider on leaving. You’re a great dude! Just post more of something different if you can. Good luck!

If you want to upload something that's interesting to you, go for it, but don't just upload the same photo multiple times as it's driving members off of this site. Instead, put your photos into collages to waste less gallery space and make sure each upload is something different.
I know how you feel tbh. That user even promised to take a break from the site for 2-3 months, but they're still here posting the same stuff. There's a saying that goes "practice what you preach" and they failed to do that. However, please don't delete your account, just take a break instead if you need to. We'll be here for you when you're ready.

A lighting photographer from East London. I occasionally collect lamps as well.
If you really want to covert LED, prioritize retrofits over full replacements.

Well, to be honest, L-G jpeg display engine does not perform to its best! And also bright 255-255-255 white background is not the good idea for displaying photos in general. For some reason, L-G uses some prehistoric unsharp image scaling algorithm, and/or probably attempts to recompress user images, which degrades the quality considerable. So it is not you, it is L-G engine which destroys image quality, very unfortunately...

Well... At the risk of being reported, sure... But... If there is no image quality in the beginning, sure there is nothing to lose

I think that my thoughts on that should well be known, even tho the threads i post them seem to the be magically censored by our Overlords... Again, maxim and all the others I can well understand it. I came to the conclusion that most useful lighting conversations could be have outside this sitemuch more enriching and valuably with the people who knew stuff and were slowly driven away from, quit officially or quietly, or when all of those are busy my plants. And yes I very much appreciate the input and enrichment Eric, Maxim or cooperOVZ and so many other who were members for years and quietly vanished. However I don't see how begging for anyone to stay helps anybody. Simply the underling problems remains , and these people won't start enjoying this site agains just because someone begged them to stay. And honetly in my opinion the people destroying this site don't deserve your content. maxim, please converse with the admins, however i fear, conversing with a potato may be more for filling. From what we have seen the result will be the some: nothing. However in difference to the admins the potato can be eaten at the end, so something positive. It seems like the administration has fallen back to their old practice of not listening to a part of the members. Again. Discent gets crushed so nobody sees the underling problem and if we discuss something we risk getting banned. Just as the side note, in case it is thought we don't discuss members leaving or getting banned privately, your wrong. Maybe already just in the interest of not manufacturing rumours and false accusation it may be a good idea to be a a bit less authoritarian regarding unpleasant topics. However it seems like the administration seem only be interested in traffic and content generation however is blind when it come to content quality when the valuable content gets drowned in coated of the quality of a particularly shaped piece of dog waste. @RRK well put.

Ugh, sorry for this. My storage ran out of space and I cannot make collages!

Usually I collect bulbs (Mostly LED) and some HID ones. I also own a couple of streetlights, but most are made in Poland.
However, I mostly prefer SOX bulbs. LED bulbs in their efficacy will never beat SOX bulbs, in my opinion.
