The ignitor of the HPS lanterns in your first video, is superimposed, because the cold cathode sparks looks continuous and gradually brightens before the lamp finally lit. You can see my videos of cycling HPS lamps in lanterns/floodlights using another type of ignitor and therefore behaves different before they finally lit: 1.
