Sodium takes longer to evaporate in orange compared to pink MH lamps « on: May 08, 2025, 08:30:05 AM » Author: dor123
I've noticed that the sodium iodide in my BLV Colorlite HIT-DE 70W "Orange" MH lamp takes much longer to evaporate compared to my Venture MH-DE 70W/UVS/PDX lamp pink MH lamp.
Why is this?

Are you sure burners have identical (thermal) mass?

Also, pink lamps also has indium iodide and likely tin iodide salts. Both are easy to evaporate. While orange lamp runs up on pure argon + mercury, pink lamp will have two salts already evaporated mid-way, so higher pressure and higher power at that time.
