Cooper Lighting Metalux 9240 shop light (and/or ballast from one) « on: May 22, 2025, 08:34:34 PM » Author: Walter Knox
I am looking for an absolute piece of crap here. Specifically, a Cooper Lighting Metalux 9240 shop light. They were made around 2006 or so, had no reflector, one piece plastic end caps which liked to snap off, and what was basically a lights of america type ballast housed in a standard(ish) can. I will attempt to attach a picture of a picture I found online, which just outlines the shape of it; I don't have an actual picture of the light itself.

NOTE: there was an earlier (or later, I am not sure) version of the same model number which is not the same thing, it has a reflector and proper tombstones. I am not looking for that version, however they use a similar ballast, so I would be interested in that.

I would also be interested in the ballast out of one of these which is a WuXi Heng Feng HFC-240-120-TS.

I know most likely nobody out there would even bother saving something like this, but if someone has one, I am interested.

I suppose I should mention that I am in the US (North Carolina) and of course would be able to pay for shipping as well as the light itself. Though I seriously doubt something this dodgy made it to market anywhere else.

I think I remember these being sold in Canada around that time as well.

Anyway, it'll be a bit time consuming but I'd keep tabs on your local CL/FB Marketplace for fluorescent and shop lights and if you're lucky one might pop up. Thrift stores/Restore are another good option as well but you'll probably have to go numerous times before you spot one.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it were sold in Canada as well, same electrical system for the most part. I don't think this would fly in 240v areas, especially with the shock hazard when you unplug them.

I have been looking on eBay and marketplace off and on. Found a NOS LOA Litlite fixture (also a piece of junk and I love it.) Sadly, at least here, restores quit selling both fluorescent and incandescent lights, and only sell LED lights; kind of defeats the whole purpose IMO, but whatever.
