Ballast recommendations for fc8t9 circline « on: July 21, 2025, 06:01:39 PM » Author: esaym
I'm re-doing the lighting in my home office with a more retro chrome single fc8t9 fixture. It came with a keystone kteb-1c22-1-tp-ws ballast. From what I read on here, keystone does not get much respect. What are my other options? Seems slim pickings for these circline bulbs.

Doing some digging.
Found an old spreadsheet from Robertson that seems to have compatibility for every bulb type ever made: RWW_archive.xls

From there, the ballasts with the highest "ballast factor" were all the non-magnetic electronic types:

ballast factor >.95:
RSW122C120WS
RSO122C120WS
RSM218CQMV

ballast factor ~.85:
RSO118CQ120
RSO126CQ120
PSM226CQMVDWCE

The PSM226CQMVDWCE is one of the ultra universal "digital" types with a PF of .9. The RSO126CQ120 is still being made, but seems to be a compromise to run either fc8t9 or a CFQ26W G24q lamp

I do recommend the Advance LC-25 preheat fluorescent ballasts as I have known for them to run 22W T9 circline fluorescent lamps at full power. However, you will need to get a starter socket and FS2, FS22, or FS25 starter to get the lamp fired up, but worth it if you do not mind magnetic ballasts flicker and preheat fluorescent action.

Desire to collect various light bulbs (especially HID), control gear, and fixtures from around the world.
