Outsourcing domestic production turned LEDs purple

I may be moving by the end of this school year as my parents are planning to divorce, after 25 years together. I've known about it since about ~2021 but have chosen to push it off for another day every time I've thought about it. Thus, I need to start donating or otherwise ridding myself of the nonessential lighting things that I own. I plan to give @Cfl3028 some or most of my HID bulbs and fixtures for safekeeping, or alternatively my best friend who lives in upstate NY. I also plan to give a large number of my incandescents to fellow member and friend Tim ( @beatoven ), but I mean he certainly cannot take it all. As more things become known, I will update this page. Bulky and unwieldly fixtures like my Spaudling Sebring will likely either be given away, sold, or scrapped, as will my non-NOS Regent NightHawk NH-2402 yard light. Whatever incandescents do not want to go on to a better home will be donated to my local ReStore. I do plan to keep the overwhelming majority of my HIDs, however. Will update as time goes on.

A bit off-topic, but I wonder how your *parents* divorcing shall force you to abandon *your own* collection? You defintely look grown up enough to be able to claim your own rights, sure?

Hi Maxim, I'm very sorry to hear that, and would happily take some stuff off your hands, though the 10,000 mile distance is a bit of a pain! I know what you're going through, it my parents split up just over a decade ago, though I was too young to properly understand! Best of luck with all of this.

I am very sorry to hear that, but I do agree with @RRK that you have rights to your own collection... Anyway I don't have access to a car right now, so unless you want to drive all the way to me I don't know if that is really gonna work.

It's more a space issue. I've accumulated more than I'll ever need, especially in the consumer lamps department. I have enough lamps for usually any project that friends, family, etc ask for, especially when they want to source incandescents, CFLs, or older LEDs for a project. I can't feasibly take it all with me. Currently, all of my stuff is stored in the basement or shed. The basement is a decently-small percentage, but I've taken over a large chunk of the shed. You see, I do not want to pay for storage costs. Being that my parents are essentially downsizing, it'll leave far less room for actual collecting space, especially when compared to what we have now. @Multisubject – I can drive to you, no problem. @Baked bagel 11 – I can definitely try and arrange something for you.

Sorry to hear this. Hope you get something sorted! Keep your most prized fixtures and lamps incase you regret downsizing too much in the future

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you can keep the rarer stuff and the HID stuff.

That’s always sad news when it happens, but hopefully they will still support you as well as all these years so far, and you can keep the most valuable things.
When I also downsized many years ago the most important thing for me back then was to keep the variety, which meant being ruthless on duplicates. Now I do not keep 2 or more lamps of the same type, every item is different. And that way you cannot later regret having given away too much and having no examples at all of something which maybe now seems not so interesting, but in the future you would kick yourself for not saving even one example of that type!

I may be run in to storage problem somewhat, but tend to practice a different approach. Having only one example of some rare lamp you start to feel guilty every time you light it up. And many lamps like SDW's are not only collectible, but are also very useful for an intended purpose, that is, lighting )
So I tend to pick some spares at least for the lamps I am going to really use for illumination. And also prefer to have a backup for the lamps that are really rare, like violet or pink MH for example. But having a few of small MH or SDW's is not very problematic in the terms of space used. Recently I got some late Soviet reflector MH's and boy, these are really bulky! But, are one-of-the kind...

This is a long shot considering I live on the other side of the US, but I am interested in that Spaulding Lighting Sebring you got. Is it that drop lens version?

@Maxim I'd only really be interested in roadway luminaires, and they are rather expensive to get over here from the USA lol. Don't worry about it, thanks for the offer though.
