So far, when I visited a Dan Flavin fluorescent light fixture sculpture exhibit at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, I have seen what appear to be specially reproduced fluorescent tubes that are no longer manufactured or banned in the USA that have no etches whatsoever. For example, I have seen what appears to be a genuine F40WW fluorescent tube and also some colored fluorescent tubes with no etches whatsoever. I think that the tubes were specifically manufactured in order to maintain Dan Flavin’s fluorescent light fixture sculptures and preserve their original beauty as I am pretty sure that the artist wanted to maintain the beauty of halophosphate fluorescent tubes.

The biggest issue I see is that a lot of this now "banned" stuff didn't sell worth a crap near the end anyways ! My local Home Repo had incandescent and CFL lamps which were literally covered with so much dust you had to wipe off the top of the box to read them !  With the big push of integrated LED fixtures I'm even seeing a lot of standard LED lamps either in the bargin bin or covered with a ton of dust .

NO manufacturer is gonna revive something that either sold slowly or just plain didn't sell before .

High flow shower heads were "unbanned" , try to find one a the local home center ! All I saw is the 2.5 GPM and lower versions .

This exactly.
I could see incandescents in a couple common sizes (40w & 60w for example) being imported from China or wherever still has manufacturing plants, for the small nitch market that still wants them. The key here is *imported*, not manufactured in the US.
Fluorescent on the other hand (banned or not) I don't see manufacture or import lasting much longer.

I don’t think the sales were that/i] bad, at least around here. I mean, the manufacturers are still selling the stuff that isn’t banned. And I certainly don’t imagine the sale of the triphosphor F40T12s was too bad in 2012 when they were banned. I have also heard that the lighting brands have been lobbying the government to remove all of the bans so they can start selling incandescent light bulbs again. Not sure if that’s true or not, just stating what I have been told.

I am hoping they at least bring back standard reflector and A19 incandescents and /741 F40T12 fluorescents. I don’t mind if they are imported as long as they exist. Even if they were only available for a few years, it would give enthusiasts another chance to stockpile them, which I didn’t get a chance to do before they were banned.

I do also really hope the stinking mercury doesn’t become the reason the fluorescents are banned. I could actually see that being the case. I wonder if it’s possible they will only outlaw fluorescents for commercial buyers or give residential buyers extended time? I don’t know if that’s something that could be done.
