New lighting standards from the federal government « on: April 08, 2026, 02:14:08 PM » Author: Lcubed3
As I'm sure some of you know, the US is increasing standards on LED lamps from 45 LPW to 120 LPW in July 2028, eliminating 99% of current LED lamps from the market. Digging through the law, I also found this interesting table. It increases standards for CFLs, but does not ban them as many media outlets are implying. Also, fluorescent tubes are still allowed under this new rule, as they are exempt from the definition of General Service Lamps (I may be wrong, but it seems like CFLs are exempted too).

If you're interested, here is the actual law. I have highlighted the part that is important.

MBCFL means Medium Base Compact Fluorescent Lamp.
