Have all lighting manufacturers discontinued high pressure mercury vapor lamps? « on: June 18, 2026, 10:38:59 PM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
After getting word from some collectors saying that China has stopped manufacturing and exporting high pressure mercury vapor lamps, I have this feeling that this means that the entire world has officially stopped manufacturing high pressure mercury vapor lamps. If I am wrong, please let me know of any manufacturers still producing high pressure mercury vapor lamps. If not, it might be time to stock up on whatever lamps you can find.

On a side note, it is interesting that Moscow metro is still using some real mercury lamps on some historical stations. At least at Chertanovskaya and Paveletskaya, may be more. Also a hell lot of 36W PLs (in place of these Soviet LBU30) and still a bit of MH.  Also many of old train stock was not LEDized.

I believe they have been discontinued as I do not know of any other manufacturers that make them anymore. Most are either selling what stock they have left or are already completely out. I think China was basically the last holdout making mercury lamps. If anyone knows otherwise I would also like to know. Sad times.

In India, I've seen Crompton make 250w and 400w mercury lamps as recent as Jan 2026. I believe they're still making them. Unfortunately the 80w and 125w MV, and 160w SBMV are discontinued.
But MV production may end soon, as they are going to make only HPS (150w, 250w, 400w) and LEDs.

I think GE still makes them

GE discontinued them last year. End of an era. No more mercury vapor lamps.

They’re not in the Current 2026 catalog. Just HPS and MH.
