It Really came to my surprise that user @dudam001 had deleted this account sadly, without any notice. Its quite a shame because most of the time he had something nice to say about my posts, or someone's else's. And tbh, he was a very active member on this platform, so that also surprises me. There already has been many accounts deleted this year btw...

Otherwise, that's all I have to say. Its just kind of sad...but what can you do.

Both decent members who commented on stuff I posted. However I’m not surprised. The quality of posts and comments on posts and most pictures that get uploaded here has considerably dropped to rubbish lately which is why I rarely post photos currently. But I will add that it’s not just this site. It’s all of them.

I don't see degradation in the quality of post and comments on posts and uploaded pictures.

This site is, as much as I don’t want to say it, slowly dying. We need more new collectors/enthusiasts.

I don’t really comment on these kinds of threads, but here’s my 4 cents.

Forums in general have been in decline for years. I’m on a few other forums (non-lighting related), and they have seen significantly less patronage, regardless of member seniority. A couple are honestly in far-far worse shape than L-G. Attraction (and retention) is also ongoing issue in these other sites as well. You have to remember this site started back in 2005, around the time forums were still in their peak, but today the internet social dynamic has changed/evolved.
Bottom line, this is not exclusively a L-G matter… it’s everywhere.

As far as members leaving (nobody specific nor the aforementioned) that’s really none of my business. I think it’s kinda a selfish move on their part, but I’m not going to go any further.

Our Polish L-G also dying more in last time, activity there is very rare, up to 2016 this forum was quite active, now is in decline.
In current times social media like facebook take over forums sadly

I have been here since 2009 and I can definitely say that the internet has changed since and that LG is not the only forum struggling. In fact, I could say that so far LG has done quite well compared to many other forums and I think biggest reason for that is how our niche hobby benefits from good gallery system.

That being said the biggest change IMO is that the casual conversation has disappeared as well as the common little questions (most likely disappeared due to AI) are also gone. Both used to be way more common in the past.

From the gallery side one of the biggest things I see missings or at least severely decreased is the job related photos. There used to be much more photos about work related installations. Nowadays the focus seems to have shift more to photos about old installations people have found.

I rise from the cemetery of inactive members to state that I absolutely agree.

The quality of the pictures themselves hasn't worsened, it stayed the same,
and maybe improved, but the content is way more boring.
You don't often anymore see passionate DIY projects, prototype lamps someone got from a retired lighting company engineer,
neat new installations of older lighting technology or passionate collectors having a long dialogue.
Its more of a bittersweet nostalgia looking back to the "good old times" now,
where we look at the past with a smile knowing how fun it was,
with that empty feeling in the gut. This was it.
It was fun experimenting with glass and vacuum and cool arcs and filaments,
but now, cheap plastic is the norm.
No hate towards modern LED lighting, but it's just dull and boring,
design and color wise. It's that 3200K fake warm white that says it all,
people are not warm anymore, it's money above all,
and the 'warmth' is a shell of what we used to be.

That's all I have for now. Bye.

I think that dudam001 leaved after he being insulted by @LightBulbFun which said him to stop make comments like he did to me.
